The wonders of Solitude — A master talking to his students on challenges of developing discipline for the aspiring artist:
So, social pressures may not cloud the aspirants soul (mind, will, emotional self), the artist ought to enjoy some solitude on a daily basis. It is when we’re alone when reflections of our life experience furnish the growth we need. When you are alone, you belong entirely to yourself. Without solitude, your art may not flourish. MORAL: Don’t be haunted in the future, by memories of what could have been, by avoiding solutitude.”
A personal note:
When I am going to be away from my work for any length of time, I take a notebook, and a book to study or read. Developing daily discipline is a pre-requisite for success…
